School’s Vacation Celebration

I am sure by today most of the schools, if not all, in Cambodia have broken up for the annual longest vacation. I still remember that when I was in primary school, we were asked to bring snacks or fruits for class academic-year-ending party on our last day. Well, it is more or less similar to a potluck party.

Perhaps different schools had and have different ways to celebrate it. It is no doubt that the practice must have been evolved for the last two decades. Today at a school in Siem Reap, I witnessed another way of celebration. Dancing, the most popular entertainment in Cambodia rural areas. Each student of the school donated Riel 500 (about USD 0.12) to rent a set of sound system with big speakers that cost them Riel 90,000. So with only Riel 500 dancing spree was made possible. If you were there, you definitely would have been amazed by those small’s kid dances.

A new school building constructed this year. It looks very quite here, but if you turn around to the opposite direction…

  4. tumnei says:

@ Yeng: Thanks. so do I.
@ Phossdey: It is much more impressive in the real action 😉
@ Boran: Well, I was on a bench. Not a monkey on a tree. haha
