Two alleged rapists confessing their crimes after the arrest were released after paying 6 Million riel. Only half of the amount went to the victim’s family who agreed to withdraw their complaint. (Source: The Cambodia Daily) Do not me ask where the remaining is.
This kind of crimes will keep increasing and worsening, if culprits are not seriously punished. Rape cases are reported on newspapers almost every day, including a case that two of the victims were brutally killed in Pursat recently. I think it is not the matter of complain is filed by the family or not, the culprit should not be released to walk freely. I just cannot really understand the laws of the country I call home.
